Shikher Jha · Systems and product engineer

Software thatkeeps itspromises.

I’m a founding engineer at Samora (YC W26), the founder of StoreOS, and I’m joining Amazon. I build the unglamorous machinery (orchestrators, control planes, state machines) that lets a product keep working when the real world doesn’t.

Incoming SDE

Joining as a software development engineer. Until then: keep learning how systems behave at the scale I haven’t operated yet.

Starting soon

02Pattern

Same problem, different clothes.

observediffactdesired= observed?

Almost everything I’ve built is one question in disguise: how does a system find its way back to the state it promised, after the world changed underneath it? The answers rhyme.

01

State is a claim, not a fact.

Observe what is actually there, diff it against what should be, act on the difference, then do it again. Loops beat scripts.

  • StoreOSOperators reconcile every tenant store toward its desired state: 10+ parallel provisions at >99% success with zero orphaned resources.
  • SamoraReaper and reconciliation logic recovers stale jobs, abandoned sessions and half-finished workflows.

02

Every write can be retried.

Networks drop, workers die, users double-click. If a second attempt can do damage, the design isn’t finished.

  • SamoraIdempotent state transitions across the Temporal-based human-layer orchestration.
  • StoreOSEvery mutation carries an idempotency key and moves through a typed state machine.

03

Humans are part of the system.

The interesting failures are at the seam between software and a person. Design the hand-off, not just the happy path.

  • SamoraOperator takeover and handback mid-call, with a reaper that recovers hand-offs nobody answered.
  • StoreOSAgents only propose. A person previews, approves and applies, and can always undo.

04

If you can’t see it, it isn’t running.

Observability is a feature of the first version, not a cleanup task for the third.

  • SamoraService-wide tracing and alerting across Lambda, ECS and databases; one call ID joins logs and traces end to end.
  • TealboxStructured pipelines and alerts that took manual toil down by 90%.

Auric AI

Owned the loop from satellite imagery to annotation to model to results.

  • FastAPI data services that expose TIFF imagery, CVAT annotations, model outputs and correctly mapped metadata.
  • A hybrid automated + manual QC engine on the CVAT developer APIs, with layered rule checks and reviewer workflows.
  • Rasterio pipelines for re-rendering, four-band conversion, resampling and tiling; deployed end to end.
  • Promoted QC-approved annotations into CV training sets and mapped inference back to source imagery.

07Under the hood

The site is also a spec.

A portfolio is the one product where you can’t blame the roadmap. So this one is built the way I’d want a production surface built.

Rendered on the server

The HTML you received already contains every word on this page. JavaScript adds the lattice and the sound, nothing else.

One canvas, one lazy engine

A single client canvas that sleeps when off-screen. The audio engine is a separate chunk that doesn’t download until you press play, and never touches React.

Live data without client fetches

The rating chart is fetched on the server, cached for a day, and drawn as SVG with no chart library. If the API is down, it renders a dated snapshot instead of an empty box.

One source of truth

This page, the case studies, the printable résumé, the share cards and the structured data all read one typed content file.

Calm by default

Sound is opt-in. Reduced-motion is respected. It works without JavaScript. Every control is keyboard reachable.
